Consultant – Nutrition Multisectoral Implementation in Tarawa

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a consultant to support the implementation of multisectoral nutrition actions and to help institutionalise national nutrition governance in Tarawa, Kiribati. The assignment lasts 11 months and combines office‑based work with travel across the islands.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Parliamentary Nutrition Select Committee in operationalising its recommendations, focusing on Phase 1 of the national nutrition roadmap.
• Support the establishment of the National Nutrition and Food Council within the Office of the President, including drafting terms of reference and facilitating stakeholder engagement.
• Strengthen multisectoral accountability mechanisms and develop monitoring frameworks for nutrition outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance on nutrition data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform policy decisions.
• Coordinate with government ministries, civil society, and development partners to align nutrition interventions.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in nutrition, public health, development studies or a related field.
• Proven experience working on nutrition programmes in low‑resource or island settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government institutions and multi‑stakeholder platforms.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
