Accounting & Tax Unit Head

About the role

The Accounting & Tax Unit Head is responsible for managing the company’s accounting operations and ensuring statutory tax and Zakat compliance. This senior position oversees the general ledger, month‑end and year‑end closings, complex IFRS entries, financial statement preparation and consolidation, while coordinating with auditors, tax advisors and regulatory authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR and treasury, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
• Lead monthly, quarterly and year‑end closing processes, reviewing journals, reconciliations, accruals, provisions and complex IFRS entries.
• Prepare and finalise standalone and consolidated financial statements for the company and its subsidiaries in accordance with IFRS and Saudi regulatory requirements.
• Oversee Zakat, VAT, WHT, RETT and E‑Invoicing compliance, prepare and submit statutory returns, manage refunds and coordinate tax audits with ZATCA.
• Coordinate external and internal audit activities, provide required documentation and support Audit Committee reporting.
• Supervise, coach and develop the accounting team, establish closing and tax calendars and drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; professional accounting or tax qualification preferred.
• Proven experience in both accounting operations/financial reporting and Saudi tax and Zakat compliance, including hands‑on ZATCA filings and audit coordination.
• Experience in a real‑estate, development or similarly complex corporate environment is advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS financial reporting.
• In‑depth understanding of Saudi Zakat, VAT, WHT, RETT and ZATCA regulations.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and financial consolidation tools.
• Experience with tax risk management and E‑Invoicing compliance.
