Assistant Chief Engineer I

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer I at Sheraton in Madinah assists the department head in managing the budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance and energy conservation. The role is accountable for keeping the building and grounds safe, secure and well maintained, tracking the work assigned to staff and contractors, and helping raise guest and employee satisfaction through effective communication and training.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the distribution of repair work orders and monitor their timeliness and quality
• Help plan, schedule and evaluate preventative maintenance programmes
• Manage the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems
• Inspect facilities, maintain accurate logs and records, and operate generators and fire pumps as needed
• Provide 24/7 emergency response and repair equipment such as refrigeration and laundry units
• Select and order new equipment, supplies and furnishings, and recommend repairs, renovations and replacements
• Train employees in safety procedures, support new-hire orientation, and help with interviewing and hiring
• Take part in performance appraisals, supervise staffing levels and ensure disciplinary procedures follow SOPs
• Emphasize guest satisfaction and set a positive example for guest relations

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics or a related major
• 4 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related field, or 2 years with a degree
• Technical training in HVAC-R, electrical or plumbing
