Director of Insurance – Lead Strategy & Risk Management

About the role

The Insurance Director leads the organization’s insurance strategy and risk management framework, ensuring optimal coverage, cost efficiency and regulatory compliance. Reporting to senior management, this role aligns insurance programs with overall business objectives and supports business continuity across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the insurance and risk management strategy, set goals, KPIs and advise executive management on insurance‑related risks.
• Design, negotiate and manage corporate insurance policies (property, liability, medical, motor, etc.) and maintain relationships with brokers, insurers and service providers.
• Identify, assess and mitigate organizational risks through effective insurance solutions and periodic risk assessments.
• Oversee the claims process, ensure timely settlements, review major claims and analyse data to reduce future exposure.
• Ensure compliance with local insurance regulations and corporate governance standards, maintain documentation and liaise with regulators.
• Develop and manage the insurance budget, monitor premiums and claims costs, and provide financial analysis to senior management.
• Collaborate with internal departments (HR, Legal, Finance, Operations) to provide insurance guidance for contracts, projects and crisis management planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration or related field; Master’s degree or professional certifications (CII, CPCU, ARM) preferred.
• 10–15 years of experience in insurance or risk management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of insurance markets, policy structures and regulatory requirements, with proven experience in corporate insurance programs and claims handling.
