Engineering Technician

About the role

The Engineering Technician provides on‑site maintenance and repair services for hotel guests, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems operate safely and efficiently. You will work independently with minimal supervision while coordinating with other shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
• Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning and lubrication of tools and equipment.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment and machines; carry necessary equipment on‑site.
• Identify and operate shut‑off valves, maintain inventory and requisition parts.
• Communicate daily activities and issues to other shifts using approved procedures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and plumbing diagrams.
• Execute complex repairs on MEP systems, air‑conditioning, refrigeration, pool heaters and other hotel equipment.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Utilise preventive maintenance and energy management software for tracking and troubleshooting.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and perform Engineer‑on‑Duty duties.

Required profile

• Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Above‑average engineering operations skills with strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proficiency in at least three of the following: air‑conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicle maintenance, energy conservation, building management.
• Solid knowledge of safe tool usage and lockout/tagout practices.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex systems and mentor others.
