Field Operator

About the role

The Field Operator monitors operational parameters of a power or desalination plant, works closely with the CCR Operator and Shift Supervisor, and ensures safe startup and shutdown according to approved SOPs. The role involves daily inspection, logging of plant data, and coordination of maintenance activities to keep equipment within safe limits.

Key responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules, fire‑fighting equipment procedures and report near‑misses.
• Follow instructions from the Shift Supervisor, Shift Charge Engineer and CCR Operator.
• Monitor and record operational parameters, log periodic readings and summarize shift activities.
• Inspect plant areas and auxiliaries to verify equipment remains within limits.
• Report abnormalities immediately to the CCR Operator and raise work requests for faulty equipment.
• Perform equipment changeovers according to schedule and coordinate isolation and line‑up before and after maintenance.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards and clean up after maintenance tasks.
• Assist in training new operators and report QHSE deviations.

Required profile

• Diploma (desired) or Degree (preferred) in a relevant technical field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in power or desalination plant operations; experience in the Middle East is a plus.
• Awareness of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
• General awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental Management System principles.

Required skills

• Knowledge of waste identification, classification and disposal.
• Knowledge of emission monitoring and environmental/health impacts of plant chemicals.
• Familiarity with firefighting equipment, PPE and safety equipment.
• First‑aid measures knowledge.
• Understanding of power and water plant operational activities.
