HSSE Manager - BYD KSA

About the role

The HSSE Manager leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security and Environment programmes across all Al-Futtaim Automotive-BYD operations in Saudi Arabia. The role reports to the Head of Government Relations & HSSE and covers BYD showrooms, workshops, parts warehouses and corporate sites in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and the wider dealer network. It ensures compliance with KSA regulatory frameworks (Saudi Civil Defense, MHRSD, HCIS, SASO, Environmental Authorities) and with Al-Futtaim Group HSSE governance.

Key responsibilities

• Drive hazard identification and risk assessments, track corrective actions to closure and investigate medium and high-severity incidents within 24 hours
• Maintain the Automotive Risk Register and achieve at least 80% compliance in HSSE audits
• Keep sites compliant with Saudi Civil Defense, MHRSD, HCIS, SASO and environmental requirements, secure statutory permits and represent the business in regulatory and OEM audits
• Develop site emergency plans, run at least two evacuation drills per site per year and ensure First Aiders and Fire Wardens are in place
• Run monthly Safety Committee meetings, embed safety standards, run toolbox talks and maintain Safe Work Procedures
• Lead ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 accreditation and coordinate certification audits
• Lead and develop the HSSE team, support Saudization and deliver HSSE dashboards and incident trends to senior leadership

Required profile

• Leadership experience across multi-site operations
• Working knowledge of KSA HSSE regulations (Civil Defense, MHRSD, HCIS, SASO)
• Fluent English and Arabic, with the ability to communicate with mixed nationalities
• Comfortable on the shop floor and decisive under pressure
