HSSE Manager

About the role

The HSSE Manager will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security and Environment programmes for Al Futtaim Automotive – BYD across Saudi Arabia. Reporting to the Head of Government Relations & HSSE, the role is responsible for compliance with KSA regulations, protecting people, assets and brand reputation at showrooms, workshops, warehouses and corporate sites.

Key responsibilities

• Drive hazard identification, risk assessments and corrective actions across all BYD sites, maintaining an 80% compliance score in HSSE audits.
• Conduct full‑cycle incident investigations for medium and high‑severity events, documenting root‑cause analysis in the HSSE IMS.
• Secure and renew statutory permits (Civil Defence, Environmental Clearance, municipal HSSE clearances) and ensure zero notices of violation.
• Develop and supervise site‑specific emergency response plans, including fire, chemical, sandstorm and pandemic scenarios, and run at least two evacuation drills per site annually.
• Lead ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and other international certification processes, ensuring successful surveillance and re‑certification audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences or related field.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (mandatory) and IOSH Managing Safely certification.
• 6–12 years progressive HSSE experience, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role within automotive retail or comparable multi‑site operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Saudi Civil Defence, MHRSD, HCIS, SASO and environmental authorities.

• NEBOSH International General Certificate and IOSH Managing Safely.
• OSHA 30 and NFPA standards (preferred).
