Mechanical Design Lead - Airport Infrastructure

About the role

Egis, an international engineering, consulting and construction firm active in architecture, mobility services and infrastructure, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Lead to join its engineering team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role oversees the mechanical design of airport infrastructure projects, leading a team of mechanical engineers and designers while ensuring compliance with international standards and Saudi Building Code requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and design professionals on airport and aviation facility projects
• Develop mechanical design solutions for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and related systems in airport environments
• Manage the mechanical design phase from concept through construction documentation
• Coordinate with architects, electrical engineers and other disciplines for seamless integration and clash-free designs
• Use BIM and advanced design software to create detailed mechanical models and construction documents
• Ensure designs comply with the Saudi Building Code, international standards and airport-specific requirements
• Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks, and prepare technical specifications, calculations and design reports
• Work with clients, consultants and contractors, monitor project timelines and budgets, and stay current with MEP design trends

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in MEP mechanical design
• Preferred direct experience on airport, aviation or large-scale infrastructure projects
• Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and coordinating multidisciplinary projects
• Strong understanding of the Saudi Building Code and international standards such as ASHRAE and NFPA
• Excellent analytical, communication and coordination skills, and familiarity with airport mechanical requirements
• Professional certification in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MEP design software including AutoCAD, Revit and HVAC design tools
• BIM modeling and coordination, and design coordination software with clash detection
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building automation systems
