Power Transformer Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Power Transformer Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Dammam. The role focuses on developing reliable, efficient, and manufacturable transformer products for utility and industrial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review electrical designs and calculations for power transformers, including ratings, winding arrangements, insulation coordination, losses, impedance, and thermal performance.
• Prepare technical specifications, design documents, drawings, bills of materials, and manufacturing data in line with standards and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, testing, procurement, quality, and project teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant, and delivered on schedule.
• Participate in design reviews, prototype evaluation, factory acceptance testing, and resolve technical issues or non‑conformities.
• Support continuous improvement of transformer products and engineering processes.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of power transformer electrical design, including winding design, insulation systems, short‑circuit forces, losses, impedance, and temperature‑rise considerations.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and select suitable materials, components, and design parameters for high‑voltage equipment.
• Working knowledge of IEC and related international standards for power transformers, testing, insulation coordination, and electrical clearances.
• Experience preparing technical drawings, design calculations, bills of materials, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Understanding of transformer manufacturing, routine and type testing, quality controls, and failure analysis.
