Senior Engineer - Operational Support

About the role

This Senior Engineer position covers operational support of an HVDC transmission system, including disturbance monitoring, ancillary services and protection scheme validation. The role also involves auditing drills, switching sequences and operational audits, and coordinating with Asset Management on overdue operational actions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate AGC performance and Member States' response after system disturbances, and analyse HVDC operation including DRPS and frequency control.
• Monitor system inertia and overall system performance, and review ancillary services status.
• Verify protection and control schemes (RAS, RVCS, UFLS) and conduct post-event analysis of disturbances and tripping events.
• Ensure accurate recording of outage events, proper archiving of outage records and formal documentation of all changes.
• Audit drills, evaluate lessons learned, and audit switching sequences after ICC completion, ensuring each step is reviewed and approved by at least two ICEs.
• Perform gap analysis of SOPs, implement audit recommendations and follow up on operational and technical study recommendations.
• Support operational audits of ICC activities, systems and operations, and coordinate with Asset Management on pending or overdue actions such as LOAs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to solve problems, manage time and pay attention to detail.
