Senior Ubuntu Embedded IoT System Engineer

About the role

Canonical’s OEM Delivery Team is looking for a Senior Ubuntu Embedded IoT System Engineer to work with OEM, ODM and silicon partners, delivering Ubuntu on a range of hardware such as robotics, automotive and industrial gateways. The role is fully remote within the EMEA region and focuses on platform bring‑up, debugging and optimisation of Ubuntu on Arm and other non‑x86 platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide software and system engineering services for OEM and ODM customers.
• Collaborate with partners on hardware platform bring‑up and validation.
• Work with project managers and Field/QA engineers to identify, triage and resolve critical issues.
• Contribute to upstream Ubuntu projects to improve boot, kernel and system‑level architecture for embedded devices.
• Support optimisation of Ubuntu Classic and Ubuntu Core on partner silicon such as Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Mediatek and others.
• Ensure Ubuntu runs reliably on partner hardware including robotics, automotive, SmartNIC, medical devices and industry gateways.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with experience in embedded Linux systems.
• Minimum of 1 month of relevant experience as indicated in the posting.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast‑paced environment.
• Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills.
