Shift Engineer – Power & Desalination Plant

About the role

The Shift Engineer is responsible for overseeing plant operations during assigned shifts at Acwa’s power and desalination facility in Qassim. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the plant, handling start‑up, shut‑down and emergency situations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the plant according to SOPs, quality standards, and safety regulations, including safe start‑up and shut‑down procedures.
• Issue and manage permits to work, coordinate with maintenance, chemistry and other departments, and monitor plant status through log books and daily reports.
• Respond to abnormalities, take corrective actions during emergencies, and supervise non‑routine activities such as preservation and acid cleaning.
• Conduct Environmental Aspect‑Impact and Hazard Risk Assessments, report deviations, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (mandatory); postgraduate degree in Power Plant Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in power, desalination or RO plant operations, preferably in the Middle East.
