Shop Operator - Rotor Repairs

About the role

Join Baker Hughes' Industrial & Energy Technology team as a Shop Operator focused on rotor repairs. You will work in a high‑quality manufacturing environment, operating and monitoring equipment that services centrifugal compressors, pumps, gas turbines and gear shafts.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, monitor and operate multiple machines simultaneously in the service shop.
• Perform visual, geometrical and non‑destructive inspections of rotors and gear shafts, recording results on data sheets.
• Carry out repair activities for centrifugal compressor rotors, pump rotors, gas turbine rotors and gear shafts.
• Ensure in‑process parts meet quality control standards and document inspections.
• Conduct product preservation according to established procedures.
• Raise HSE observations and follow safety targets.
• Execute preventive maintenance on machine tools and complete daily maintenance checklists.
• Report fixture and tooling performance, evaluate rigidity, and test new fixture designs.
• Maintain 6S standards, housekeeping, and participate in lean‑manufacturing improvement projects.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hands‑on experience operating mechanical equipment in a shop environment.
• Familiarity with inspection techniques and quality control processes.
• Ability to work under direct supervision and follow ISO and internal procedures.
