Technical Director - Urban Planning

About the role

AtkinsRealis is seeking an expert‑level Technical Director to lead the Strategic Planning department in Riyadh. The role will shape the Kingdom’s spatial and infrastructural future, aligning projects with Saudi Vision 2030 and long‑term growth objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the strategic vision and technical direction for high‑profile urban development projects across Riyadh and the Kingdom.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of planners, architects, engineers, and GIS specialists, ensuring collaboration and alignment.
• Oversee design, review, and approval of regional and local land‑use plans, zoning regulations, and metropolitan strategies.
• Collaborate with government agencies, private developers, and international consultants to ensure compliance with national frameworks and international best practices.
• Provide expert guidance on infrastructure integration, mobility planning, smart‑city technologies, and public‑realm enhancements.
• Represent the department in public forums, stakeholder meetings, and policy discussions.

Required profile

• More than 20 years of experience in urban planning, transportation, or related fields.
• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and challenging clients.
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership in guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver transformative outcomes.
