Technical Manager - Automotive and Industrial

About the role

Canonical is seeking a Technical Manager to lead the Automotive and Industrial team. You will bridge open‑source innovation with strict industry certifications, ensuring Ubuntu‑based solutions meet automotive safety and security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Management to shape the vision and strategy for automotive solutions.
• Define and execute an engineering roadmap for the automotive team.
• Represent Ubuntu and Canonical in industry consortia, standards bodies, and customer meetings.
• Lead the Linux distribution and open‑source software strategy for automotive and industrial use cases.
• Build, coach, and manage a globally distributed engineering team.
• Coordinate with other engineering groups, senior leadership, and external partners to align expectations.
• Promote modern, agile development practices and improve delivery quality, security, and developer experience.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading technical teams in complex, safety‑critical environments.
• Strong understanding of automotive and industrial certification standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 26262, ISO 21434, UNECE R155/R156, ASPICE).
• Ability to work remotely and influence cross‑functional stakeholders globally.
