Design Engineer – Piping & Mechanical Design

About the role

The Design Engineer will create and deliver engineering documentation that supports accurate EPC quotations, project execution, and client technical compliance within the Costing & Design Department.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare piping drawings, GA layouts, isometrics, spool drawings and related engineering calculations.
• Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and technical documentation ensuring adherence to industry codes, client specifications and company standards.
• Collaborate closely with Costing, Sales, SAP and Project teams to deliver technically sound and commercially efficient solutions.
• Interpret P&IDs, extract quantities and perform quantity take‑offs for project estimates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
• 1–4 years of experience in mechanical or piping design engineering, preferably on EPC projects in oil & gas, water, desalination or petrochemical sectors.
• Hands‑on experience preparing GA drawings, piping isometrics, spool drawings and engineering calculations.
• Familiarity with ARAMCO, SABIC or SWA engineering standards is a plus.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (2D drawing production).
• PDMS, SP3D or similar 3D modeling software.
• SAP document management systems.
• Microsoft Excel for calculations and quantity take‑offs.
• Knowledge of piping codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, AWWA C950, ISO 14692 and ASME RTP‑1.
• Understanding of GRP, GRE, GRV composite piping materials, pressure and stiffness classes, and resin types.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and extract quantities from isometric drawings.
