Customs Specialist – Customs Operations

About the role

The Customs Specialist will manage import and export activities for GE Vernova, ensuring all customs documentation, permits, and bank guarantee processes are handled accurately and on time. This role supports both permanent and temporary shipments to repair facilities and factories, maintaining compliance with Saudi Arabian customs regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operational aspects of permanent and temporary imports to GE facilities.
• Prepare, submit, and track permit applications and temporary import requests.
• Apply for extensions and handle border changes when required.
• Collect export shipping documents, verify serial numbers, and coordinate bank guarantee recovery.
• Follow up daily with customs offices to submit new files and recover previous submissions.
• Reconcile customs recovery reports with internal records.
• Resolve disputes with customs authorities and escalate issues to the Senior Customs Operations Manager.
• Adhere to EHS directives, report incidents, and halt operations if safety is compromised.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field.
• Minimum 4 years of work experience, including at least 2 years in customs operations.
• Strong compliance mindset and ability to make timely decisions.
• Fluent in English and Arabic (oral and written).
• Legal right to work in Saudi Arabia without sponsorship.
• Valid driving license.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• In‑depth knowledge of customs processes, temporary import procedures, and bank guarantee recovery.
