Kitchen Steward – Food Service Support

About the role

The Kitchen Steward ensures that the kitchen and surrounding service areas remain clean, sanitary, and ready for daily operations. Working closely with the supervisory team, the Steward follows established cleaning schedules and health‑hygiene regulations to support smooth food service.

Key responsibilities

• Follow daily cleaning schedules and perform assigned duties across the kitchen and service areas.
• Collect, inspect, and maintain cleaning equipment; report any defects promptly.
• Clean stoves, ovens, grills, refrigerators, and other kitchen appliances using appropriate chemicals and tools.
• Hand‑wash pots, pans, trays, and utensils; operate dishwashing machines for dishware, glasses, and cutlery.
• Dry, stack, and store cleaned items; transport food supplies between storeroom, freezer, and kitchen.
• Assist with set‑up and break‑down of service areas for special functions and occasional food preparation tasks.
• Maintain operational hygiene standards and adhere to health, safety, and fire‑life procedures.

Required profile

• Ability to follow cleaning rotas and hygiene regulations consistently.
• Willingness to report equipment issues and follow supervisory directions.
• Awareness of restaurant health, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Commitment to the company’s code of conduct and values.

Required skills

• Operation of commercial dishwashing machines.
• Use of cleaning chemicals and equipment (brushes, wash cloths, detergents).
• Manual handling of kitchen utensils and supplies.
