English Supervisor

About the role

The English Supervisor works closely with teachers and school leadership to uphold high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment within the English department. This role drives curriculum quality, supports staff development, and contributes to overall student achievement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior leadership in maintaining high‑quality professional practice and curriculum standards.
• Coordinate teaching and learning activities for the English subject area.
• Lead regular departmental meetings, record minutes, and follow up on actions.
• Visit classrooms, evaluate teaching practices, document observations, and provide constructive feedback.
• Prepare reports for the Head of School on curriculum status, instructional practices, and related matters.
• Conduct performance evaluations for department staff and mentor new teachers.
• Contribute to curriculum design, book reviews, and policy development.
• Verify examination papers, coordinate marking schemes, and moderate assessment processes.
• Analyze student results data to inform instructional decisions.
• Ensure timely procurement of textbooks, materials, and equipment.
• Advise on staff retention or termination based on performance reviews.
• Undertake teaching duties or other tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree minimum; Master’s degree preferred in the relevant subject area.
• At least 6 years of teaching experience across multiple phases.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
• Deep mastery of the English subject.
• Critical thinking, problem‑solving, and strong leadership abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
