Field Engineer – Autonomous Vehicle Systems

About the role

Pronto AI is seeking a hands‑on Field Engineer to install, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot its autonomous haulage technology on heavy equipment at a mining site in Saudi Arabia. You will be the on‑site technical lead ensuring that autonomous systems operate safely and efficiently in a demanding outdoor environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site installation of hardware and software, including sensor suites, drive‑by‑wire kits, power integration and vehicle interfaces.
• Set up peripheral equipment such as network stations, gate systems and office infrastructure.
• Conduct system calibrations and validation tests to meet operational standards.
• Carry out scheduled maintenance, monitor equipment health and log wear or environmental impacts.
• Diagnose and repair hardware, software and connectivity issues using diagnostic tools and logs.
• Document all service activities in internal ticketing and CRM systems.
• Provide on‑site customer support, training and clear communication with client personnel.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in field service, automotive electronics, mechatronics or similar technical support.
• Ability to work independently in remote, industrial environments with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for customer interaction.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment and electrical testing tools.
• Solid understanding of vehicle power systems, CAN bus, sensors and ECUs.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics and follow technical documentation.
• Familiarity with Linux‑based systems and remote diagnostics.
• Experience with autonomous vehicle systems, machine control or complex sensor integration is a plus.
