Control Room Operator – Operations

About the role

The Control Room Operator (CCR Operator) is responsible for monitoring and controlling unit and plant operation parameters, ensuring safe and efficient performance while coordinating with fellow operators.

Key responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules, fire equipment, and emergency procedures.
• Monitor all unit parameters, record readings, and summarize shift activities in log books.
• Follow instructions from the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor, coordinating activities with other operators.
• Respond quickly to abnormal operating conditions and execute lock‑out/tag‑out procedures during maintenance.
• Inspect equipment, report abnormalities, and perform periodic protection tests under supervision.
• Raise work requests for faulty equipment and follow up on defect rectification.
• Assist in training new operators and report near‑misses, quality, health, safety, and environmental deviations.
• Ensure proper waste disposal and perform any other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering (mandatory); Bachelor of Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar control room position.
• Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environment management systems.
• Ability to work in remote locations and follow strict safety and procedural guidelines.

Required skills

• Power and water plant operational knowledge.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of waste identification, classification, and disposal.
• Knowledge of emission monitoring and chemical health impact.
• Familiarity with firefighting equipment, PPE, and first‑aid measures.
• Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
