Electrical Technician – Solar PV (Utility‑Scale)

About the role

The Electrical Technician will ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation of utility‑scale solar PV plants and associated substations in Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, monitoring via SCADA and compliance with Saudi electrical and HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PV modules, inverters, SCBs, UPS, transformers and robotic cleaning systems.
• Monitor SCADA alarms, diagnose DC field and communication faults, and resolve issues on‑site.
• Operate and maintain switchgear and protection systems ranging from 11 kV to 220 kV.
• Conduct IR testing, fault rectification on HT and DC cables, and HT cable diagnostics (Hipot, Online PD, IR).
• Support erection, testing and commissioning of transformers, HT/LT panels and cable trays.
• Review electrical drawings, lead QA/QC inspections and coordinate commissioning per SEC and NEOM standards.
• Enforce LOTO and PTW procedures in line with Saudi Aramco, SEC and NEOM HSE protocols.
• Conduct safety briefings, drills and first‑aid sessions; maintain audit documentation.
• Supervise technical teams, ensure effective shift handovers and coordinate with contractors and vendors.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in solar PV operations and maintenance.
• Hands‑on experience with robotic module cleaning systems and PV tracking mechanisms.
• Technical Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering; valid electrical licence (preferably transferable to Saudi Council of Engineers).
