Executive Director – Investment Management

About the role

The Executive Director of Investment Management will set the strategic direction and oversee the operational execution of the organisation’s investment portfolio. Reporting to senior leadership, this role is responsible for maximising returns while managing risk across traditional and alternative asset classes. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with deep expertise in capital markets and portfolio optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive investment strategy aligned with long‑term organisational objectives.
• Lead and mentor a high‑performing investment team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
• Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities, trends and risk factors.
• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as banks, brokers, institutional investors and regulators.
• Ensure compliance, risk management and governance standards are upheld across all investment activities.
• Represent the investment function in senior‑level discussions with board members and executive leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in investment management, portfolio management and strategy development.
• Proven track record of leading investment teams to achieve superior performance.
• Extensive knowledge of equities, fixed income, private equity, derivatives and real estate.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to articulate a clear investment vision.
• Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities.
• Experience in stakeholder management, negotiation and relationship building with institutional investors and regulators.
• Deep understanding of compliance, risk management and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated thought leadership through publications, presentations or industry involvement.
