About the role

Victoria Legal Aid is seeking a dedicated Lawyer to join its Gippsland team, working from either Bairnsdale or Morwell. The role focuses on criminal law and family violence, providing high‑quality legal services, duty‑lawyer support, and community outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice, casework and duty‑lawyer support to clients.
• Represent clients in criminal law and family violence matters before courts and tribunals.
• Advocate for improved access to justice and conduct community outreach travel.
• Collaborate with team members and external stakeholders to deliver effective outcomes.
• Maintain flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Required profile

• Ability to represent clients in criminal law and family violence matters in court.
• Current Australian practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one) for Victoria government legal practitioners.
• High‑level interpersonal skills and capacity to handle sensitive, complex issues.
• Proven ability to work in a supportive team environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality legal services.

• Salary range $90,871 – $104,924 per year plus super.
