Press Shop Equipment Engineer – Automotive Stamping

About the role

We are seeking a Press Shop Equipment Engineer to support, troubleshoot, and optimise automotive stamping equipment. The role bridges Maintenance and Process Engineering, focusing on equipment reliability, automation, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Support and optimise press shop equipment using Siemens PLCs (Step7, TIA Portal).
• Configure and maintain WinCC HMI/SCADA systems for monitoring and diagnostics.
• Lead improvement projects targeting cycle‑time reduction, reliability and productivity.
• Analyse machine performance and apply lean strategies to enhance equipment health.
• Collaborate with Maintenance to resolve complex electrical, electronic, and control issues.
• Work with Process Engineering to align equipment capability with quality targets.
• Troubleshoot motors, VFDs, soft starters, sensors and industrial control devices.
• Support hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and automation systems, including stamping presses and transfer lines.
• Participate in upgrades, retrofits, and integration of new equipment, including KUKA robots.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Automation or related engineering field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in the automotive industry.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Siemens PLCs (Step7, TIA Portal) and WinCC HMI/SCADA.
• Solid knowledge of motors, VFDs, soft starters, sensors, hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical and control schematics.
• Proficiency in English.
