Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer

About the role

The Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer will lead the design and specification of pumps, compressors, seals and other specialty rotating equipment for large‑scale oil & gas, refinery and offshore projects. This senior mechanical engineering position requires extensive experience in FEED and detailed engineering, as well as the ability to guide a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of up to 10 mechanical engineers and designers, ensuring high‑quality deliverables.
• Develop and manage discipline work plans and review equipment data sheets and specifications.
• Conduct technical studies such as compressor configuration, driver selection, life‑cycle cost, material handling and RAM analyses.
• Evaluate technical bids and perform packaged equipment reviews.
• Provide technical leadership to project teams and clients on rotating equipment matters.
• Ensure design integrity, on‑schedule delivery and budget compliance for the mechanical scope.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in oil & gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in FEED and detailed engineering of medium to large scale rotating equipment.
• Strong leadership and team‑management capabilities.

Required skills

• Design and specification of rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, seals, turbo‑machinery).
• Knowledge of design, construction practices and procedures.
• Familiarity with codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, NFPA, API, OSAH, ISA and NEC.
• Experience with Saudi Aramco standards (advantageous).
• Technical studies: compressor configuration, driver selection, life‑cycle cost, material handling, RAM.
