Project Director - Rail Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a multi‑billion SAR railway infrastructure programme in Western Saudi Arabia. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across the full project lifecycle, working closely with senior client representatives, consultants, JV partners and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a clear delivery strategy, taking full accountability for programme, cost, quality, HSE and overall performance.
• Lead project mobilisation, establishing governance, organisational structure and delivery processes.
• Manage large multidisciplinary teams covering construction, engineering, commercial, planning, procurement, HSE and QA/QC.
• Oversee civil, structural, railway and associated infrastructure works, ensuring effective coordination between design, construction and specialist systems.
• Maintain robust project programmes, monitor critical milestones and drive timely achievement.
• Lead commercial performance, cost management, variations, claims and contractual obligations.
• Develop and sustain relationships with the client, authorities, consultants and key stakeholders.
• Identify, assess and mitigate project risks and opportunities, ensuring compliance with Saudi regulations and project specifications.

Required profile

• 20+ years of professional experience in major infrastructure, construction, transportation or railway projects.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale, multi‑billion SAR/USD programmes, preferably in the GCC and Saudi Arabia.
• Experience at Project Director level with overall responsibility for major project delivery.
• Strong civil infrastructure and construction background.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex multidisciplinary teams and major project interfaces.
• Solid commercial and contractual understanding.
• Experience working within major contractors, joint ventures or consortium environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, Railway Engineering or related field; Master’s degree or recognised project‑management qualification is advantageous.
