Junior Structural Engineer – Shop Drawing Review (Full‑time)

About the role

ARX is seeking a Junior Structural Engineer to support the review of shop drawings for a major aviation and industrial project in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. You will work under senior engineers, ensuring structural drawings, reinforcement details and related documents meet project standards and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in reviewing structural general arrangement, concrete outlines and reinforcement shop drawings against issued‑for‑construction documents.
• Check bar‑bending schedules for correct marks, diameters, spacing, quantities and bending details.
• Perform initial checks of reinforcement detailing, including concrete cover, laps, anchorage, development lengths and confinement reinforcement.
• Review detailing for foundations, pile caps, piers, beams, slabs, walls, underpasses and station structures.
• Identify reinforcement congestion, dimensional discrepancies and coordination issues, escalating to senior engineers.
• Coordinate drawing comments with design, construction, QA/QC and document‑control teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• 1–4 years of experience with structural and reinforcement shop‑drawing review, preferably on bridges, transport infrastructure or similar civil projects.
• Familiarity with reinforced‑concrete construction methods, bar‑bending schedules and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Basic knowledge of the Saudi Building Code and international standards such as ACI, AASHTO, Eurocodes or British Standards is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Experience using PDF drawing‑review tools.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
• Exposure to BIM coordination tools and model‑review workflows.
• Understanding of electronic document‑management or common data environment systems.
