Project Engineer (SMP)

About the role

The Project Engineer (SMP) will manage and deliver multiple refinery projects from concept through close‑out, ensuring they stay within budget and schedule. The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, engineering and construction teams, and sponsors to clarify scope and drive successful project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Review project scope, prepare concept packages and support MTA scoring sessions for prioritisation.
• Develop annual CAPEX business plans and support technical committees for approvals.
• Analyse schedules, costs and deliverables, providing corrective actions to keep projects on track.
• Coordinate frequent meetings with engineering and construction counterparts, attend Spirit meetings and report progress.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety, process safety, HSE policies and cybersecurity requirements.

Required profile

• B.S. degree in Engineering (PMP certification preferred).
• Minimum 6 years of project management experience, preferably in a refinery environment.
• Proficient English communication skills (spoken and written).
• Ability to work in a restricted area with a day‑time schedule.
