Project Manager – Substation

About the role

The Project Manager (Substation) will lead the oversight and delivery of an airport substation and medium‑voltage network modernization project. This role ensures safe, on‑time, and cost‑effective execution of engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning while maintaining uninterrupted airport operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead PMC activities for EPC/LSTK contractor execution of a new 34.5/13.8 kV airport substation and MV network modernization.
• Manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety and stakeholder coordination; approve execution, design, procurement and construction plans.
• Monitor milestones, progress reporting, risk management and contract compliance; chair weekly and monthly project review meetings.
• Review and approve detailed engineering submissions at 60%, 90% and IFC stages; ensure compliance with SEC standards, Saudi Building Code, IEC, IEEE, NFPA and airport operational requirements.
• Provide technical leadership for substation equipment, power transformers, distribution loops, SCADA/ADMS, cybersecurity systems and related protection & control schemes.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale power infrastructure projects, preferably in an airport or critical‑facility environment.
• Strong knowledge of EPC/LSTK contract delivery and project governance.
• Ability to coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders, including airport operations, engineering, IT, HSSE and regulatory authorities.
• Familiarity with Saudi regulatory standards and international electrical codes.

Required skills

• Substation design and implementation (34.5 kV / 13.8 kV metal‑clad switchgear).
• Power transformer specification (30/40 MVA, 20/26.6 MVA).
• Medium‑voltage distribution network engineering.
• Protection & control systems and auxiliary AC/DC systems.
• SCADA/ADMS and cybersecurity for power systems.
• Compliance with IEC, IEEE, NFPA and Saudi Building Code.
