Remote Malayalam Language Expert – AI Data Services

About the role

This is an hourly, remote contractor position where you will act as a Malayalam Language Specialist, reviewing AI‑generated Malayalam content and creating high‑quality reference material. Your work will directly improve the naturalness, accuracy and cultural relevance of Malayalam outputs from leading AI models.

Key responsibilities

• Review and annotate AI‑generated Malayalam text for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone and cultural appropriateness.
• Identify and document errors such as mistranslations, register mismatches, ambiguities, logical inconsistencies and hallucinated claims.
• Fact‑check statements when required and provide detailed written feedback in English.
• Write high‑quality rewrites and model answers that demonstrate best practices in Malayalam writing.
• Rate and compare multiple AI responses based on correctness and overall quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Linguistics, Malayalam/English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Native or near‑native proficiency in Malayalam (reading and writing).
• Professional proficiency in English (minimum C1) to follow guidelines and write feedback.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education or similar language‑focused work.
• Deep knowledge of Malayalam grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation and style, with ability to explain corrections.
• Comfort with multiple registers, dialect variations across Kerala and audience adaptation for India and diaspora.
• High attention to detail, reliable self‑direction and ability to work across time zones.
