Senior HSE Engineer

About the role

Astek Middle East is seeking a Senior HSE Engineer to lead health, safety and environmental initiatives across project sites in Saudi Arabia. The role involves supporting energy‑efficiency, building retrofit, construction and maintenance projects while ensuring compliance with Saudi regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide HSE engineering support for construction, retrofit, maintenance and related operations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, JSA reviews and incident investigations.
• Monitor contractor compliance with HSE policies, PTW and LOTO procedures.
• Lead HSE inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings for project personnel.
• Maintain HSE documentation, inspection reports and compliance registers.
• Prepare periodic HSE performance reports and recommendations for management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant HSE experience (10 + years welcomed).
• Professional experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC preferred.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Relevant HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA).

Required skills

• Working knowledge of ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
• Working knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
• Experience with Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) systems and LOTO procedures.
• Proficiency in incident investigation, Root Cause Analysis and Job Safety Analysis.
• Familiarity with HSE inspection and reporting software/tools.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Saudi HSE regulations and international safety standards.
