Senior LiveKit & WebRTC Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the evolution of enterprise‑grade real‑time communication products. The role is an individual contributor position that relies on deep technical expertise, architectural judgment, and mentorship to modernize complex systems while delivering business value.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and guidance across frontend, backend, and real‑time communication layers.
• Drive architectural improvements focused on scalability, maintainability, observability, security, and resilience.
• Design, build, and enhance LiveKit and WebRTC‑based platforms, including rooms, participants, media tracks, permissions, and session lifecycle.
• Ensure low‑latency, reliable, and secure communication experiences across the stack.
• Improve session reliability, reconnection handling, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Optimize systems for latency, bandwidth efficiency, and scalability in production environments.
• Influence engineering standards through code reviews, coaching, and hands‑on contributions.

Required profile

• Senior‑level software engineer with a strong track record of delivering real‑time communication solutions.
• Comfortable working with legacy codebases and incrementally reducing technical debt.
• Proven ability to mentor teams and influence technical decisions without formal people‑management responsibilities.
• Experience operating scalable platforms in production and ensuring operational reliability.
