Shop Operator - Rotating Equipment

About the role

The Shop Operator works in the Industrial & Energy Technology (IET) production team, setting up, monitoring and operating equipment used to service and manufacture high‑quality rotating machinery. The role involves handling multiple machines, performing inspections, repairs and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, repair and test centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, gas turbines and gearboxes.
• Conduct visual, geometrical and non‑destructive inspections and record results on data sheets.
• Perform quality control on in‑process parts and document outcomes.
• Carry out product preservation procedures as defined.
• Report HSE observations and adhere to safety targets.
• Execute preventive maintenance on machine tools and complete daily maintenance checklists.
• Evaluate fixture and tooling performance, test new fixture designs and clamping methods.
• Maintain 6S standards, housekeeping of workstations and participate in lean manufacturing improvement projects.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience repairing rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, turbines, gearboxes).
• Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing or service shop environment.
• Willingness to work morning shifts and adapt to 2‑3 shift patterns with overtime as needed.
