Student Assistant

About the role

The Student Assistant supports teachers and learners across the curriculum, both inside and outside the classroom. This role helps create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment by providing academic, organisational, and pastoral assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in supervising educational activities, social development, and student behaviour.
• Provide support to individual students and small groups under teacher direction.
• Help students access the curriculum in all subjects, including physical education and field sports.
• Support pupils with additional learning, emotional, social, or behavioural needs.
• Supervise students during lessons, transitions, breaks, lunches, trips, camps and extracurricular events.
• Maintain a positive learning environment by promoting respectful behaviour.
• Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources and administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with teachers, learning‑support staff and other colleagues to meet student needs.
• Attend staff meetings, professional‑development sessions and required training.

Required profile

• Diploma degree (essential).
• At least one year of experience in a similar role.
• Demonstrated ability to work with young children and understand their needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies.
