Accountant

About the role

Al Jomaih Energy & Water (AEW) is seeking an Accountant to manage financial transactions, reporting and compliance for its energy and water projects. The role reports to the Accounting Manager and supports the finance team in delivering accurate and transparent financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Record and review financial transactions in compliance with IFRS and local accounting standards.
• Assist with month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare supporting schedules for reporting.
• Track and report on project financial performance, budgeting and cost management.
• Prepare management and statutory financial reports and ensure proper application of accounting policies.
• Support variance analysis of actual versus budget for revenues, costs and cash flows.
• Monitor bank transactions, perform bank reconciliations and assist in cash‑flow reporting.
• Ensure correct accounting of VAT, Zakat and other tax requirements and prepare documentation for regulatory filings.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits and support internal control implementation.
• Post and maintain transactions in ERP systems and contribute to improvements in financial reporting tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2‑5 years of accounting experience, preferably in utilities, energy or infrastructure sectors.
• Knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and local accounting standards.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle Fusion.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to work in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• ERP system usage (Oracle Fusion or similar).
• Understanding of VAT, Zakat and related tax accounting.
