Alignment Engineer – Metro Projects

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking an experienced Alignment Engineer to lead the route alignment activities for upcoming metro projects in the Middle East. The Senior Engineer – Alignment (Design/Rail) will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimising both horizontal and vertical alignments, ensuring they meet safety, constructability and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead the alignment process from concept through detailed design phases.
• Conduct route selection studies, evaluating technical, environmental, social and operational constraints.
• Approve horizontal and vertical alignment proposals in line with international and local standards.
• Coordinate with civil, track, structures, systems, geotechnical and environmental teams to integrate alignment across disciplines.
• Manage interfaces with land‑acquisition, stakeholder engagement and authorities to ensure feasibility.
• Ensure alignment solutions are cost‑effective, safe and compliant with project specifications.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in railway or metro alignment engineering.
• Proven experience on large‑scale metro or railway projects, preferably in the Middle East.
• Strong understanding of technical, regulatory and constructability aspects of alignment design.
