Auditor – Tax & Customs

About the role

Incumbents at this level perform specific tasks individually under close supervision, including research, gathering and analysing information, drafting reports and documents, and participating in meetings. Simple operational activities involve income assessments for SMEs and examining historical tax records to accurately identify tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with Saudi tax regulations, audit procedures and administrative rules.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update assessment templates and audit tools in line with operational procedures and policies to facilitate SME tax imposition and ensure timely valuation.
• Monitor industry developments and sector‑specific tax practices to incorporate new approaches into assessments and audit reviews.
• Review current audit files and past audit results to validate sales, accounts receivable, imports, inventory and related accounts.
• Prepare reports on high‑risk cases based on audit findings and communicate results to relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate with the Legal Support Department to ensure compliance with the Authority’s technical position and applicable tax laws, policies and regulations.
• Submit accepted audit reports to chairs for review and approval, incorporate feedback, and finalize audit results.
• Review drafted audit reports for policy compliance, approve tax amounts and provide feedback to auditors for improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in tax audit or related financial activities.
