Backend Engineer, Core APIs

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join a fully remote team that builds core APIs for real‑time fraud detection. You will design, develop, and scale high‑performance backend systems that power critical data‑processing services used by major technology companies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise scalable backend systems for real‑time data processing and high‑performance web services.
• Build, maintain, and improve APIs, microservices, and backend infrastructure with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Write production‑grade code primarily in Go and/or Node.js.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to integrate backend components and ensure efficient operation at scale.
• Investigate complex issues through deep technical analysis, root‑cause investigation, and data‑driven experimentation.
• Perform performance tuning, debugging, testing, and reliability improvements.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Go and/or Node.js.
• Proven ability to design and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, and real‑time data‑processing services.
• Solid understanding of SQL and experience working with relational databases.
