Backend Engineer – Healthcare Integrations & Systems

About the role

FluidAI Medical is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and build the integration layer that connects its post‑operative monitoring platform to hospital EHRs, laboratory systems and national health exchanges. The role is remote, with required travel across Saudi Arabia to work directly with hospital IT teams and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain integration services exchanging clinical data between FluidAI and hospital systems (EHR, LIS, ADT feeds, device gateways, health exchanges).
• Implement HL7 FHIR APIs and HL7 v2 message interfaces for inbound and outbound data flows.
• Build production‑grade backend services (REST and event‑driven) that are secure, observable and resilient.
• Own data mapping and transformation between internal models and standards (LOINC, SNOMED CT, UCUM).
• Develop interface engine patterns: queuing, retries, deduplication, idempotency and reconciliation.
• Lead technical aspects of hospital onboarding, testing and hyper‑care support.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and logging for integration health.
• Apply healthcare security and privacy best practices (OAuth2/SMART on FHIR, mutual TLS, audit logging) in line with regional regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Backend, Integration or Interoperability Engineer, preferably in healthcare or medical technology.
• Deep knowledge of HL7 FHIR (R4/R5) and HL7 v2 messaging, including hands‑on work with FHIR servers or SDKs.
• Experience with integration engines such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody or similar.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Java/Kotlin, C#/.NET, Go, TypeScript/Node.js) and API design (REST, OpenAPI).
• Solid SQL skills (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker and Kubernetes.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is a strong plus.
