Buyer – Fresh Food Produce (Central)

About the role

The Buyer – Fresh Food Produce (Central) is responsible for selecting, purchasing and maintaining stock of fresh fruit, vegetables and related products for a network of super stores. Working closely with store teams, supply‑chain and commercial functions, the role ensures product availability, cost efficiency and quality to drive sales and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse store demand trends and sales data to determine optimal product quantities.
• Coordinate with suppliers to secure availability, delivery schedules and consistent stock levels across stores.
• Negotiate purchasing terms, prices and delivery conditions to meet profitability targets.
• Evaluate supplier performance, manage risks and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Monitor inventory levels, address shortages or overstock situations and support replenishment planning.
• Collaborate with store and supply‑chain teams to align procurement plans with operational needs.
• Verify product specifications, packaging and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare purchasing reports and cost analyses for data‑driven decision making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Logistics, Operations Management or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret sales data and forecast demand.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier‑management capabilities.
• Knowledge of fresh produce markets and retail grocery environments.
