Cardiology Technician

About the role

The Cardiology Technician supports cardiology physicians by performing diagnostic cardiac tests, preparing patients, and ensuring accurate documentation. This role combines technical expertise with patient‑centered care to help diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ECGs, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and echocardiograms under physician supervision.
• Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes, obtain medical histories, and provide comfort.
• Assist cardiologists during examinations, answer patient questions, and ensure smooth workflow.
• Record test results and patient data in electronic medical records, maintaining confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot cardiology equipment, adhering to infection‑control and safety protocols.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development, including BLS/ACLS certifications.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification or associate degree in cardiovascular technology preferred.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably cardiology.
• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and common cardiac conditions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ECG, stress testing, Holter monitoring, and echocardiography equipment.
• Experience using electronic health record (EHR) or EMR systems.
• BLS certification; ACLS certification as needed.
