Chief Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Chief Accountant to lead our accounting function, ensure accurate financial records, and provide timely management reporting. The role reports to the General Manager and works closely with Group Finance to maintain strong financial controls across a multi‑trade workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, complete month‑end close, and prepare financial statements in line with IFRS.
• Operate a job‑costing system, allocating labour, material and overtime costs to projects and maintenance work orders.
• Review and approve payroll, GOSI contributions, and end‑of‑service provisions while ensuring compliance with the Wage Protection System.
• Manage supplier payments, receivables, and intercompany balances, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
• Prepare VAT returns, e‑invoicing, withholding tax, and Zakat filings; coordinate with external advisors and auditors.
• Prepare the annual operating budget, monthly variance analysis, cash‑flow forecasts and KPI reports.
• Enforce segregation of duties, oversee petty cash, fixed‑asset register and inventory counts, and track audit findings.
• Supervise and develop the Accounting Assistant, allocating work and reviewing outputs.

Required profile

• 6‑10 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead role within contracting, construction, engineering consultancy or facility management.
• Hands‑on experience with project/job costing, large blue‑collar payrolls and intercompany accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; SOCPA fellowship or membership preferred; CPA/CMA advantageous.
• Fluent Arabic (required) and proficient English.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with an ERP accounting system and advanced Excel.
• Job‑costing and cost‑control expertise.
• Saudi VAT, e‑invoicing, withholding tax and Zakat compliance.
• Payroll processing, GOSI administration and end‑of‑service benefit calculations.
