Chief Marketing Officer – Tourism & Destination Branding

About the role

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for Tourism & Destination Branding will shape and execute the organization’s marketing vision, positioning the destination as a premier choice for travelers. Reporting to the executive team, the CMO will lead a multidisciplinary marketing department and collaborate with government bodies, local businesses and tourism boards to drive sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and branding strategies that increase destination visibility and competitiveness.
• Lead and mentor the marketing team, fostering cross‑functional collaboration and alignment with overall business objectives.
• Utilize market research, consumer insights and trend analysis to inform campaign design and destination positioning.
• Manage large‑scale marketing budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources and achievement of ROI targets.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, tourism boards, and local enterprises.
• Oversee digital, social media and CRM initiatives to enhance audience engagement across channels.
• Respond to crises and reputational issues with swift, coordinated communication plans.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of progressive marketing experience, including at least 10 years in senior leadership within tourism or destination branding.
• Proven track record of delivering high‑impact brand campaigns and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data‑driven insights into actionable strategies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills for senior‑level audiences.
