Civil Engineer (Pavement) - Airport Projects

About the role

Egis, an international engineering, consulting and construction firm operating in the Middle East, is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer specializing in pavement design to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on designing and developing pavement systems for airport projects, from concept through construction documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze airport pavement systems including runways, taxiways and aprons using industry-standard software and methodologies
• Develop detailed pavement design specifications and construction documentation in line with FAA, ICAO and local Saudi Arabian standards
• Carry out geotechnical analysis and coordinate with soil engineers to ensure pavement performance and longevity
• Prepare technical drawings, plans and specifications using CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D or equivalent)
• Perform structural analysis and modeling of pavement layers to determine thickness and material specifications
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors and stakeholders to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness
• Review existing pavement conditions and recommend rehabilitation or reconstruction strategies
• Take part in site inspections and provide technical support during construction
• Maintain project documentation and comply with quality assurance protocols

Required profile

• Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in civil engineering design, with a focus on pavement design
• Proven experience designing airport projects such as runways, taxiways, aprons or hangars
• Strong knowledge of pavement design standards (FAA, ICAO, AASHTO) and experience with pavement analysis software (e.g. KENPAVE, EVERSTRESS)
• Solid understanding of geotechnical principles applied to airport pavements
• Ability to write comprehensive construction specifications and technical documentation
• Familiarity with airport operations and constraints is highly desirable; knowledge of Saudi construction standards is preferred
• Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or equivalent certification preferred
