Construction Head – Solar (1 GW Utility‑Scale Plant)

About the role

The Construction Head will own end‑to‑end delivery of a 1 GW utility‑scale solar PV plant in Dubai, overseeing site mobilisation, execution and commissioning through to Commercial Operations Date. This senior position reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for schedule, cost, quality and HSE performance on a multi‑disciplinary site organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site mobilisation, layout planning and establishment of infrastructure (offices, lay‑down areas, roads, water, security).
• Own Level 3/Level 4 construction schedule, drive critical‑path management and coordinate substation, MV and grid‑connection works.
• Direct execution of earthworks, pile ramming, MMS/tracker installation, module installation, DC stringing, inverter & transformer skids, MV cabling, substation, switchyard and SCADA/I&C.
• Manage subcontractor packages from award through close‑out, including productivity tracking, claims and variation orders.
• Liaise with DEWA, Owner’s Engineer and EPC client on technical clarifications, inspections and milestone certifications.
• Enforce zero‑harm HSE culture, maintain TRIR ≤ 0.3 per 200 000 man‑hours and ensure compliance with Dubai Municipality and DEWA requirements.
• Report cost, schedule, HSE, risk, quality and commercial performance to senior leadership on a weekly/monthly cadence.
• Lead lessons‑learned and continuous‑improvement protocols for future GW‑scale projects.

Required profile

• 15+ years in construction and project execution, with at least 10 years in utility‑scale solar PV EPC delivery.
• Proven experience managing multi‑disciplinary site teams of several hundred personnel.
• Strong track record of delivering large‑scale renewable energy projects on time, within budget and to high HSE standards.
