Database Administrator (PostgreSQL & MySQL)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands‑on Database Administrator to manage and optimise our PostgreSQL and MySQL environments. The role will ensure high availability, security and performance of critical business applications.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, monitor and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL databases in production and non‑production environments.
• Perform installations, configurations, migrations, upgrades and patch management.
• Implement and enforce database standards, policies and operational procedures.
• Monitor performance, conduct health checks, tune queries, indexes and configurations, and resolve bottlenecks.
• Plan capacity, analyse resource utilisation and optimise storage.
• Design, implement and manage backup, recovery and disaster‑recovery strategies, including replication and high‑availability architectures.
• Provide 24/7 on‑call production support, incident investigation, root‑cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Manage access controls, user privileges, authentication mechanisms and ensure compliance with security and governance standards.
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and automation scripts to improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application and cloud teams to support business objectives.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience administering PostgreSQL and MySQL databases.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Solid understanding of backup, recovery and disaster‑recovery concepts.
• Experience working in Linux environments and writing shell scripts.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 support rotation and collaborate across multiple teams.
