Design Engineer (Manufacturing)

About the role

The Design Engineer (Manufacturing) will lead the engineering design, analysis and documentation of heavy fabricated equipment such as pressure vessels, piping systems and process equipment. The role ensures all designs comply with ASME, NACE and relevant pipeline codes while meeting safety, cost and schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings and technical documents in accordance with ASME (Section VIII, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8), NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and client specifications.
• Perform mechanical design calculations including thickness, stress analysis, nozzle loads, supports and reinforcements.
• Create 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and SolidWorks, generate GA, fabrication, isometric drawings and BOMs.
• Select appropriate materials based on process conditions, corrosion requirements and ASTM/ASME/API standards; review material test certificates.
• Coordinate with production, planning, QA/QC and procurement teams, providing technical support during fabrication, welding and inspection.
• Interface with customers, third‑party inspectors and consultants to obtain approvals and resolve technical queries.
• Conduct internal design reviews, support HAZOP assessments and ensure documentation for code compliance and audits.
• Identify opportunities for design optimisation, cost reduction and standardisation.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of ASME pressure vessel and piping codes and NACE corrosion standards.
• Experience in mechanical design calculations for heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in creating and managing engineering drawings and 3D models.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to quality, safety and environmental procedures.
