Director of Insurance

About the role

The Insurance Director leads the organisation’s insurance strategy and risk management framework, ensuring optimal coverage, cost efficiency and regulatory compliance while supporting overall business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the insurance and risk management strategy, set goals, KPIs and advise senior management.
• Design, negotiate and manage corporate insurance policies across property, liability, medical, motor and other lines.
• Identify, assess and mitigate organisational risks through effective insurance solutions and align with enterprise risk management practices.
• Oversee the claims process, ensure timely settlements, review major claims and analyse trends to reduce exposure.
• Maintain compliance with local insurance regulations, corporate governance standards and liaise with regulatory authorities.
• Develop and manage the insurance budget, monitor premiums, claims costs and provide financial reporting.
• Collaborate with HR, Legal, Finance and Operations to provide insurance guidance for contracts, projects and business continuity planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Master’s degree or professional certifications (CII, CPCU, ARM) preferred.
• 10–15 years of experience in insurance or risk management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of insurance markets, policy structures and regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience managing corporate insurance programmes and handling claims.
